The airport terminal: an architectural challenge
Innovation and flexibility to ensure complex functions

Catalysts and prime beneficiaries of globalization, airports are experiencing unparalleled growth in the world of infrastructure. The design of tomorrow's terminals will have to meet a number of challenges: their scale, with ever-larger projects; their economic equation, with the gradual withdrawal of governments; and their ecological footprint, with the challenge of making airports acceptable to public opinion.

Thearchitect proposes solutions for using and optimizing building space to meet these often contradictory objectives. They must also ensure the necessary flexibility of an infrastructure that will have to adapt to tomorrow's needs. The challenges of technological innovation and regulatory changes, as well as the need to take into account the passenger's travel experience, are at the heart of its concerns.

After a few introductory words, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Alexandre Guibourt, President and co-founder of 1PAX, an architectural firm specializing in airport design.roport design, who will present the great revolutions in terminal design of the last century, and share his innovative vision for these very special buildings in the current century.

Alexandre Guibourt's talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session, followed by a buffet lunch.

Alexandre Guibourt is an engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, and a qualified architect from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris la Villette. After 10 years in a variety of positions at Aéroports de Paris, he co-founded 1PAX with Mabel Miranda.

1PAX is anarchitectural firm dedicated to the design of transport infrastructures. Its name (one pax, one passenger) is a reminder that the passenger must be at the center of our concerns throughout the development of a project. 1PAX is responsible for the design of the new international terminal at Malé airport (Maldives) and the extension of terminal 1 at Nice airport. 1PAX was selected by Impulse Labs to join its "Mobilities and Infrastructures" incubator, and was awarded the Paris Innovation label.
