Visit to the Paris Sewer Museum

Organised by "International Sponsorship"

On December 11, the Parrainage group is organizing its first outing in Paris: a great opportunity to share a convivial moment, accompanied by your godchild/sponsor.

Come and discover how the Paris sewers work, with an immersive tour of this network that collects and evacuates runoff and wastewater from the city of Paris.

Almost 2,600 kilometers long, the sewers of Paris are all underground conduits designed to collect and evacuate water. While the first sewers were built in antiquity by the Romans on the Boulevard Saint Michel, today's network of underground galleries was created Eugène Belgrand, around 1850, under the leadership of Baron Haussmann, making Paris one of the most modern cities in the world in terms of sanitation.

As the hub of the network, the recently reopened Musée des égouts de Paris offers an immersive visit to a site in operation, presenting the operational facilities where teams of men and women work around the clock and face major risks, particularly in the event of flooding. Guided by a sewage worker, we'll learn about the specificities of the job and these unusual sites.

For the visit, we recommend you wear flat shoes and bring something to cover up, as the temperature on site is 13°C. Health pass required

Payment on site. Allow €9 per person. Reduced rates for large families and senior citizens (with proof).

Please arrive 20 minutes before the start of the 11:00 am tour.
