invite you to a

Exceptional meeting with
Timothée Parrique
economist of degrowth

The concepts of degrowth and post-growth , which challenge the dogma of growth, are gaining increasing prominence in public debate as a way of preserving the habitability of our planet.

But do we fully understand the profound changes this would entail?

How can we organize a reduction in production and consumption? What transition strategies would be most effective and fairest for reducing the ecological impact of each sector? How can we get those who can to reduce their consumption? Does this mean rethinking the organization of work?

How can we finance public services and social security if GDP is shrinking? What might economic and monetary policy look like in shrinking countries? Should we reinvent some of the financing systems that today encourage "growth"?

Can a country go it alone? What are the international stakes?

Timothée Parrique will bring his insights as an economist specializing in degrowth to bear on these difficult issues, starting with a solo presentation followed by a Q&A session with Bertrand Séné (SP 99), economist and author of Ecosophia (éditions BoD). There will also be plenty of time for questions from the audience.

Timothée PARRIQUE is a researcher in ecological economics at Lund University (Sweden) and a specialist in degrowth. He is the author of a thesis entitled "The political economy of degrowth" (2019) and a book entitled "Ralentir ou périr. The economics of degrowth", which has sold over 30,000 copies.
