Ponts Industrie Conference: Airbus, a European industrial giant

On December 13, we'll be holding another group meeting, focusing on Airbus and the aeronautics sector in general. On this occasion, we'll be welcoming Julien Puyou, an alumnus of the Ecole Polytechnique and an engineer from the Ecole des Ponts (2001). Julien is currently Senior Vice President, Equipment, Systems and Services Purchasing at Airbus.

What are the long-term prospects for civil air transport worldwide? What are the risks to its development, particularly in view of decarbonization objectives and calls from some quarters for "sober air travel"?
How is Airbus' industrial production chain organized?
How is the company coping with the current surge in production rates? How are tasks distributed between the different countries?
What are the challenges involved in developing a totally new aircraft like the A350?
How is cooperation with subcontractors managed by Airbus?
What are the most promising decarbonization programs and innovations?
Are serious competitors emerging in certain countries?
What kind of young engineer is Airbus looking for?

These are just some of the questions we'd like to address in the presence of Mr. Puyou.

Julien has spent his entire professional career at Airbus. He has been, among other things, responsible for the design of landing gear bays, head of final assembly on thefinal assembly on the A380, test manager on the A320 production line, assistant to the Chief Operating Officer and President, and Senior Vice President for the A350 and A330 core programs.

The meeting will take place at the Maison des Ponts by videoconference, from 7pm to 8pm.
