Club Oenologie meeting

The wine club resumes!

After a long break, our oenology sessions are back on at the Maison des Ponts.

The next 3 sessions will take place at 7.30pm:

  • October 19
  • November 16
  • December 21st

To kick things off with a bang, I've prepared an extraordinary session.

The year is 2021, and 2001 was an excellent vintage in Bordeaux, somewhat overshadowed by the much more publicized 2000 vintage.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to try and answer the questions we ask ourselves every vintage:

  • Do the great Bordeaux wines, advertised for decades of cellaring, really hold up after 20 years in the cellar?
  • Do expert comments following en primeur tastings prove reliable over time?
  • Is it better to buy en primeur or wait until the bottle is available 20 years later?

I'll propose 7 Bordeaux wines in 2001, from different appellations, all with flattering RVF ratings in 2002, and we'll be able to judge for ourselves.

The following session will focus on Condrieu and Côte rôtie wines.

Before Christmas, we'll take a look at Swiss white wines.

I hope to see many of you at Maison de Ponts.

Best regards

Norbert Fouques
