Ulterïa: meeting with a founder and a researcher

Organised by "XMP Consult"

Innovative ecosystem

Meet one of Ulterïa's founders, Alexis Nollet. He will be accompanied by Matthieu Battistelli, a teacher and researcher in management science at CY Cergy Paris Université.

Alexis will recount the human and entrepreneurial adventure he and Sébastien Becker began in 2006 with the takeover of Mobil Wood, an industrial joinery located in Burgundy.

Ulterïa is an ecosystem that brings together two highly interactive activities:

  • Economic: value creation is based on the creation of furniture for professionals and bulk goods for the food industry.
  • Philanthropic: with
o Support for a Montessori school and training center
o Support for a young farmer in the Yonne region
    o An eco-citizen house
o An original form of governance with a Shareholder Foundation.

Topics covered will include eco-design, or how sustainable development is lived out on a daily basis, the resilience of this company which has had the capacity to weather the crisis, rural anchoring or rural exodus as an alternative to urban exodus.

Matthieu's approach as a researcher will focus on the evolution over time of the company's organizational model and its managerial function in particular. His research interests include experimentation with self-organized models such as holacracy, and the study of companies seeking to "liberate" themselves. Through Ulterïa's experience, he will question the place of managers and executives in experiments designed to promote autonomy in the workplace.
