Ponts Industrie: "Sauvons l'industrie!" web and face-to-face conference with Pierre Veltz
Organised by "Industry Group (French)"
As part of the Ponts Industrie lecture series, Pierre Veltz, a graduate of theÉcole polytechnique and a Corps des Ponts engineerdes Ponts (class of 1969), will be kind enough to share with us his ideas for regenerating France's industrial fabric. Industry has been one of Pierre's guiding principles throughout his career as an engineer, economist and sociologist. Here are just a few of the themes we'll be tackling together:
- How can we encourage the emergence of industrial SMEs and ETIs?
- How can we turn the corner on Industry 4.0?
- Can industry contribute to the well-being of outlying and rural areas?
- What role can industry play in the energy transition?
- How can we encourage engineers to join our sector?
Pierre is the author of numerous books, including "Des territoires pour apprendre et innover" (Ed. de l'Aube, 1994), "Le nouveau monde industriel" (Gallimard, 2000 and 2008), "L'industrie, notre avenir" (collective, Eyrolles, 2015), "La France des territoires, défis et promesses" (L'Aube, 2019) and, most recently, "Saclay, genèse et défis d'un grand projet" (Parenthèses, 2020).
He is a regular contributor to Les Echos and last September took part in the "Appel des 30 pour sauver l'industrie française", in the columns of Usine Nouvelle.
Pierre headed our school between 1999 and 2003.
Due to health measures, masks will be worn and seating at the Maison des Ponts will be limited to twenty, but a live webcast will also be available.
A connection link will be sent by e-mail to those registered for the videoconference.
