GEF Webinar: Female conductor Laurence Equilbey, a role model
Organised by "Sciences ParisTech au Féminin"
Six percent! That's the percentage of women conductors worldwide.
In the history of classical music, women did not conduct orchestras. It was only in the second half of the twentieth century that the first female conductors began to make their mark. Even though studies were open and places available by competitive examination, few women applied. There are too few female conductor role models for young people to emulate.
Laurence Equilbey is one of these pioneers: since 1991, she has worked with numerous orchestras (Lyon, Leipzig, Salzburg, Brussels, Berlin, Cologne...), both in concert and opera. In France, her partners are the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen Haute Normandie, where she is in residence with Accentus.
In 2012, she also created the Insula Orchestra ensemble with the Conseil Départemental des Hauts de Seine, which is in residence at La Seine Musicale on Ile Seguin.
This Wednesday, December 9, Grandes Écoles au Féminin invites you to an exceptional meeting: listen to and discuss the place of women in the world of classical music in Visio with Laurence Equilbey.
The link to the webinar will be sent the day before to those registered on the GEF website (€10).
