The French Tech Seed fund: financing pre-seed on a large scale
Supporting technology start-ups in the post-maturation phase, particularly Deep Tech start-ups and those less than three years old: this was the ambition announced by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe when he set up the French Tech Seed Fund last June. Endowed with 400 million euros from PIA3 and managed by Bpifrance, this fund's specific feature is that it is based on a mechanism of accredited business introducers, and a leveraging effect. One euro of private investment is matched by two euros from Bpifrance. The announcement on January 17 of the French government's approval of the consortium led by SATT Paris-Saclay marks the first step in this ambitious project.
The SATT Paris Saclay consortium, comprising nine members from the Paris-Saclay ecosystem (AgroParisTech's entrepreneurial clusterentrepreneurship cluster, CentraleSupélec, École Polytechnique gas pedal, Genopole, HEC entrepreneurship clusterIncubAlliance, Institut d'Optique Graduate School and BNP Paribas' WAI Massy-Saclay), with the support of Business Angels networks, has just been approved as a business contributor by the French Tech Seed fund operated by Bpifrance. The aim of this consortium is to to federate the driving forces behind technology maturation, start-up incubation and business acceleration in the Paris-Saclay ecosystem, in order to boost the creation and acceleration of technology start-ups.
