Soirée des ingénieurs des Ponts Toulouse: Presentation of the Toulouse Artilect FabLab and conference on "complex timber structures".

Program:

  • 18:30 to 19:00: Welcome at FabLab Artilect

  • 19:00 to 20:00: Conference on the theme of "complex timber structures",
    With presentation of two atypical projects: the Cité du Vin de Bordeaux and a gridshell pavilion.

    For the glued-laminated timber frame of the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, X-TU architects, Vinci subsidiary Arbonis, subcontracted the execution studies to Terrell, a gridshell design office.cution studies to Terrell, a structural design office, which will present the complexities of modeling and determining the behavior of geometrically non-standard structures.



    For the Quaternion architects' gridshell structure, engineers from Terrell, together with engineers from TESS and teacher-researchers from the Navier laboratory of the Ponts et Chaussées engineering school, will present the gridshell concept.will present the gridshell concept developed by Frei Otto, a reticulated wood structure with pre-stressed form, forming a double-curved surface obtained by elastic deformation.



  • 20:00 to 21:30: Cocktail & Galette des rois
