Research at École des Ponts in the next ten years

Director of Research at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech

Jean-François Caron
Director of the Navier Laboratory's Architectural Materials and Structures team

At a time when École des Ponts is drawing up its strategic plan, we have invited Françoise Prêteux to present the strategy for research at our school. She will give us her vision for the various laboratories, their 380 researchers and 450 doctoral students. We will benefit from her experience in governing several research entities and in establishing numerous research partnerships with the private sector.


François Prêteux and Jean-François Caron will unveil the ambitious Co-Innovation Lab@Ecole des Ponts project and its first instanre instanciation with a platform dedicated to digital construction, a field in which École des Ponts aims to establish itself as a leader. Technological innovations such as 3D printing, robotization and machine learning will revolutionize the construction industry in the years to come. We'll be looking at how researchers can tackle these issues in collaboration with industry.

Françoise Prêteux
Ingénieur civil des Mines de Paris and Doctor d'Etat ès sciences mathématiques, she headed the Carnot institute M.I.N.E.S from 2011 to 2014 before becoming Director of Research at Ecole des Ponts. She is co-author of around a hundred scientific articles and co-inventor of ten patents.

Jean-François Caron
Director of Research at the French Ministry of Sustainable Development, a doctor from the Ecole des Ponts, he is a specialist in the use of innovative materials in construction. He has published numerous scientific articles and several patents, and heads one of the Navier laboratory teams at École des Ponts. He teaches at École des Ponts and École Polytechnique.


A cocktail reception will be held at the end of the conference (10 euros for Ponts Alliance members, 20 euros for non-members, free for students).
